Lincoln Academy Turns 225

Lincoln Academy’s 225th Anniversary of its founding marks a tremendous milestone in the spectacular and encompassing history of the Academy. Samuel Nickles circulated the first petition to start Lincoln Academy in 1800 and shortly thereafter, the school opened its doors in February of 1805 to serve the students of ‘The Lincoln County’.

Lincoln Academy has not deviated from its founding principle of ‘promoting the education of the youth’, and with an upright zeal, continues to earn the trust of the community in the education of its students in the many paths they choose to explore following their graduation.

To celebrate the anniversary, the greater LA community has found it fitting to continue the work of the 2001 Institutional History committee by producing a document to showcase the past twenty-five years of history.

We are deeply grateful to the 2001 team for their research, writing, and commitment to preserving the history of the school, and are excited to use their work as a foundation for the LA 225 project.
