Soda Jerk—work as a soda jerk at classic 1948 soda fountain in downtown Damariscotta this summer. Scoop ice cream, make and serve all soda fountain favorites from ice cream cones to banana splits. Make and serve lunch items such as grilled cheese sandwiches and hot dogs. Use Square cash register system. We will provide all needed training. We serve “happy” so an outgoing attitude with customers is a must!

Kayak & Paddleboard Rental Staff 

Maine Kayak is seeking enthusiastic, customer service oriented individuals who are passionate about the outdoors and looking to work for a small, family-owned business in Boothbay and Pemaquid. You will be coordinating and facilitating rentals of kayaks, canoes and paddle boards in a state park located on a scenic tidal river and harbor in Midcoast, Maine or on the waterfront in downtown Boothbay Harbor next to the footbridge. We offer a very competitive starting wage with room to grow, professional development courses, discounts on outdoor industry gear and an opportunity to gain on water experience. Assistance with local housing is available. 

The core position responsibilities will be signing in participants, distributing and de-issuing gear and equipment, providing safety and instructional briefings, and customer relations. This position may also include facilitation of local rental deliveries. Maine Kayak has been in operation since 1999 and we belief getting people in the outdoors helps the body and soul. Seamus Gilbert Excavations is Hiring

LA grad Seamus Gilbert ’18 is hiring laborers in his excavation business. The business handles diverse jobs including excavation and barge work. Duties will include: general labor, barge deckhand, truck driving, racking and shoveling gravel, cleaning and greasing equipment.

Applicants must be able to lift a minimum of 75 pounds, and can’t be afraid of getting covered in oil, grease, diesel, gas, and dirt. Applicants must be comfortable being on the water and potentially getting wet. Being able to swim would be helpful for safety reasons.

Job openings are available for the summer and year round.

Join the Aquaculture Pioneers

The Aquaculture Pioneers program launched in 2022 to support growth of Maine’s aquaculture industry and continue to cultivate talent in this important sector. Participants in the Aquaculture Pioneers program can receive internship credit through their high school or higher education institution. Participants will also be enrolled as pre-apprentices to provide them with credit if/when they are interested in pursuing an aquaculture registered apprenticeship in the future.

All learners interested in gaining experience and building skills in the field of aquaculture are encouraged to review the available positions and apply through the common application below. All Aquaculture Pioneer positions are full-time and are paid at a minimum rate of $15 per hour. Aquaculture Pioneer positions are 10-12 weeks in length starting no earlier than mid-May. All Pioneers hired through this program will be required to attend a 2-day bootcamp on Friday, May 17th and Saturday, May 18th at the Boothbay Sea and Science Center in East Boothbay, Maine (housing and meals to be provided).

Camp Mummichog is seeking Junior Counselors

Camp Mummichog is a nature-adventure day camp, where nature education comes in many forms: hands-on exploration, physical activity, art, music, writing, games and more. It is 100% outdoors, and includes a weekly day-trip to local preserves. The Camp Junior Counselor assists with all aspects of camp operations and education. Topics include natural history, ecology, marine biology, Wabanaki culture, and outdoor living skills. Campers will range from 6-14 years old.

Hours: 35 hours per week, 8:30am to 3:30-4:30pm (including unpaid lunch), June 24-August 23
Compensation: $17/hour
Required Benefits (paid for by Coastal Rivers):

  • Wilderness First Aid (WFA) Certification
  • CPR Certification


  • Must be 15+ years of age at the start of the camp season
  • Strong communication skills with youth, parents, and staff
  • Must be able to walk 3 miles at a rigorous pace, and lift up to 50lbs.

Our Summer Program is about enjoying outdoor activities like water play, creative craft  projects, walks on our nature trail through the woods, etc. This is open to students that are 17+.  Our Summer Program runs form June 21st through August 18th. Afterschool fall employment  may also become an option for those who qualify!

Johns River Oysters: Oyster Farm  Seasonal Help

Johns River Oyster is a local family owned Aquaculture Company seeking hard working, dependable and honest people that enjoy working on the water. We grow oysters in both Damariscotta and Pemaquid and employees work at both sites. This could be a summer or full time job!

Duties include:

  • Flipping floating cages in boats
  • Sorting oysters by size using hydraulic graders
  • Counting oysters
  • Filling bags for sale

Other tasks may include:

  • Tending a diver
  • Navigating a skiff (when employee has demonstrated enough boating knowledge)
  • Local deliveries if needed
  • Coveralls and boots are required and employees must know how to swim.
  • Boating skill are desired but not required.
  • Employee must provide water and food.
  • Drivers license and a way to get to work is also necessary

Hours are 7:30 – 4:30 Monday – Friday
Competitive pay based on experience and effort starting at $21.00 per hour.

You must be comfortable lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds, engaging in heavy physical labor for extended periods of time, working from a kneeling position, and wearing a respirator. Work may include but is not limited to: Winterizing and commissioning outboards, engines, and systems, Prepping and painting boat bottoms, Hauling and launching boats, Prepping boats for storage and launching, Cleaning, buffing, and polishing boats

This is a full-time, year-round position in a fast-paced yard; you must be able to work with minimal supervision with a like-minded crew. We offer competitive pay based on experience, benefits, retirement, paid vacation, and holiday pay.
