Boatyard Service Technician – Full-Time, Year-Round

Padebco Full-Service Boatyard & Custom Boat Builders seeks a general laborer to join our crew. We’re seeking self motivated team players with “can do” attitudes, who will ask questions, take pride in their work, and want to advance by learning new skills. You must have a strong work ethic, be dependable, be able to multi-task and have a basic knowledge of boats. Experience is a plus, but we will train promising candidates.

Successful candidates must work well with others, be detail-oriented, work safely and efficiently, and provide quality service to our boating clients. You must be comfortable lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds, engaging in heavy physical labor for extended periods of time, working from a kneeling position, and wearing a respirator. Conditions of employment include: background check, valid U.S. driver’s license with a clean record, and authorization to work in the United States.

Work may include but is not limited to: Winterizing and commissioning outboards, engines, and systems, Prepping and painting boat bottoms, Hauling and launching boats, Prepping boats for storage and launching, Cleaning, buffing, and polishing boats

Previous experience in a boatyard or skills in one or more of the following a plus: outboard, small engine, and/or diesel engine repair and maintenance, carpentry, fiberglass, electrical, plumbing, or varnish.

This is a full-time, year-round position in a fast-paced yard; you must be able to work with minimal supervision with a like-minded crew. We offer competitive pay based on experience, benefits, retirement, paid vacation, and holiday pay.

First Federal Savings in the Damariscotta Branch has a summer teller position available for someone 16 or older.  The hours in Damariscotta are 8:30-4:15 Monday – Thursday and 8:30 – 5:15 Fridays.  The pay is $15.00 per hour. Experience for this position is not required, we will train the right person. If the summer works out well, we may have hours available during school vacations throughout the year.


  • Engage customers, both borrowers and depositors at Teller window
  • Process transactions from both borrowers and depositors
  • Handle financial instruments that are received from or distributed to customers
  • Use a computer terminal to execute transactions
  • Execute special functions including but not limited to; sell money orders, treasurer checks, savings bonds, and accepts stop payment orders
  • Responsible for cash funds, counting coin and currency
  • Must balance daily transactions and verifies cash totals
  • Opens new accounts and handles change of address requests
  • May complete the daily proof of the vault, receiving and disbursing cash to Tellers, and ordering vault cash and ATM cash on a weekly basis
  • Determine where and how to refer customers with needs beyond Teller transactions.

Seeking a park time babysitter for a family with two fun and active little girls. This position would begin in late August (once the school year starts) and be ongoing throughout the school year. LA grad Seamus Gilbert ’18 is hiring laborers in his excavation business. The business handles diverse jobs including excavation and barge work. Duties will include: general labor, barge deckhand, truck driving, racking and shoveling gravel, cleaning and greasing equipment.

Applicants must be able to lift a minimum of 75 pounds, and can’t be afraid of getting covered in oil, grease, diesel, gas, and dirt. Applicants must be comfortable being on the water and potentially getting wet. Being able to swim would be helpful for safety reasons.

Join the Aquaculture Pioneers

The Aquaculture Pioneers program launched in 2022 to support growth of Maine’s aquaculture industry and continue to cultivate talent in this important sector. Participants in the Aquaculture Pioneers program can receive internship credit through their high school or higher education institution. Participants will also be enrolled as pre-apprentices to provide them with credit if/when they are interested in pursuing an aquaculture registered apprenticeship in the future.

All learners interested in gaining experience and building skills in the field of aquaculture are encouraged to review the available positions and apply through the common application below. All Aquaculture Pioneer positions are full-time and are paid at a minimum rate of $15 per hour. Aquaculture Pioneer positions are 10-12 weeks in length starting no earlier than mid-May. All Pioneers hired through this program will be required to attend a 2-day bootcamp on Friday, May 17th and Saturday, May 18th at the Boothbay Sea and Science Center in East Boothbay, Maine (housing and meals to be provided).

Johns River Oysters: Oyster Farm  Seasonal Help

Johns River Oyster is a local family owned Aquaculture Company seeking hard working, dependable and honest people that enjoy working on the water. We grow oysters in both Damariscotta and Pemaquid and employees work at both sites. This could be a summer or full time job!

Duties include:

  • Flipping floating cages in boats
  • Sorting oysters by size using hydraulic graders
  • Counting oysters
  • Filling bags for sale

Other tasks may include:

  • Tending a diver
  • Navigating a skiff (when employee has demonstrated enough boating knowledge)
  • Local deliveries if needed
  • Coveralls and boots are required and employees must know how to swim.
  • Boating skill are desired but not required.
  • Employee must provide water and food.
  • Drivers license and a way to get to work is also necessary

Hours are 7:30 – 4:30 Monday – Friday
