Midcoast Magic and Fall Fun

We are enjoying the beautiful weather, slightly cooler temperatures, and the first hints of fall color appearing in the leaves. As we settle into the season, we look forward to making the most of autumn in Maine with pumpkin carving, cozy fires in the dorm courtyard, and hikes along the many trails near campus.

This past weekend, students were presented with an abundance of exciting opportunities to explore and enjoy Midcoast Maine. A trip to the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens in Boothbay gave students the chance to wander through beautiful gardens and woodland trails, learn more about Maine’s plants and ecology, and search the woods for the Gardens’ famous giant troll sculptures. Back on campus, open turf and open gym provided opportunities for students to make use of our athletic facilities and enjoy some friendly, low-stakes competition with friends. Other students caught a movie at the local theater or joined shopping trips to nearby towns, where they could stock up on favorite snacks and perhaps find a new outfit or two for fall.

This coming weekend Lincoln Academy will celebrate our annual Homecoming. Homecoming Weekend is always an exciting time on campus, bringing together students, families, alumni, and members of the broader community for a weekend full of school spirit and celebration. With a parade, an abundance of athletic events, a dance, and other celebratory events, the weekend is a wonderful chance to celebrate our community and the traditions that bring us together. You can find a full schedule of events on the Lincoln Academy website.

As previously mentioned, we continue to look to the future for students intending to attend a US college or university. One of the steps on that journey is the SAT test which will be held at Lincoln on October 3. The deadline for registration was September 18. There will be other opportunities to take the SAT this year, with at least one other testing day at LA this coming spring. If you or your students need more information, please contact Annie Edwards at edwards@lincolnacademy.org.

The due date for December travel is October 15. The dorm is open for Thanksgiving Break, but if your student is also leaving for Thanksgiving Break (11/22-11/30), the due date for those plans is October 15.  Here is the link to our travel document that will help clarify travel policies, here is the link to the Travel FAQ with suggestions for transportation services around Boston Logan airport.  Please read through this carefully, as it contains important information!

Be well and take care,
