Bestselling author Jessica Lahey will speak about her book The Gift of Failure at Lincoln Theater on September 14 at 6 pm. This event is sponsored by Lincoln Academy and is free and open to the public.
Author, educator, and parenting expert Jessica Lahey will speak at the Lincoln Theater on Monday, September 14, at 6:00 p.m. Lahey will discuss her New York Times bestselling book, The Gift of Failure: How the Best Parents Learn to Let Go So Their Children Can Succeed. This free author event is sponsored by Lincoln Academy and open to the public.
In an era defined by unprecedented parental overprotection, The Gift of Failure examines how stepping in to solve every problem that confronts a teenager can undermine a child’s confidence and independence. Drawing on two decades of teaching experience across public, private, and recovery settings, Lahey offers practical ideas for handling homework, report cards, and social dynamics while giving young people the room they need to learn from setbacks and failure.
Lahey wrote the biweekly New York Times column “The Parent Teacher Conference” for three years and has contributed regularly to The Washington Post and The Atlantic. She holds a J.D. in education and juvenile law from the University of North Carolina School of Law and is also the author of The Addiction Inoculation.
Anyone looking for targeted, compassionate strategies to foster resilience in young people is encouraged to attend this free event.
