Memorial Day Weekend is Here!

This coming Monday, May 25, marks Memorial Day, an American federal holiday that honors fallen service members of the United States military. Locally, we celebrate with a community parade, and many towns across the country place American flags on the graves of service members. Many of our students will head downtown to watch the parade and support fellow dorm students who will be performing in the marching band.

As this is also one of our final weekends together as a dorm community, we will be celebrating the remarkable year we’ve shared in true Maine fashion. On Monday afternoon, we will gather for dinner at Pemaquid Lighthouse, where students will have the opportunity to enjoy one another’s company in one of Maine’s most beautiful coastal settings. We will also enjoy a traditional Maine lobster dinner, generously made possible through the work and support of lobstermen from our local communities.

Beyond the holiday celebrations and lobster dinner, the long weekend also provides students with an important opportunity to rest, recharge, and prepare for the second-to-last week of classes. For seniors, the week ahead includes final exams, projects, and presentations. In some cases, students who have completed AP exams in certain courses may not be required to take a final exam, though exam expectations and academic weight vary by class and instructor.

Parents of Graduating Seniors

For families traveling from abroad for Graduation events, please ensure that you have all necessary documentation and visa requirements in order.  Please use this form to submit your travel arrangements.  This will be gathered by the admissions office, who can provide you with a Visa Invitation Letter.  

If you are coming to campus at the end of the year, we hope you have booked your accommodations. Local options can fill up quickly, and become more difficult to reserve the closer we get to Graduation. If you are still finalizing those plans, remember that we have a travel page on our website to guide you towards local Inns and Hotels.
