Scenes from the 2025 Peter J. Benner Job Fair
On Thursday, March 26th from 8-noon, Lincoln Academy will host their 5th Annual Peter J. Benner ‘92 Job Fair for students in Nelson Bailey gymnasium. In addition to current LA students, Wiscasset seniors and rising 9th graders from Great Salt Bay and all AOS 93 schools will attend the fair this year. Recent LA alumni are also encouraged to attend.
This annual career fair was named for Peter Benner, who graduated from Lincoln Academy in 1992. After he passed away in February of 2022, his Lincoln Academy classmates donated in his honor to make this annual event possible.
This year, Lincoln Academy anticipates a record 40 businesses from across Lincoln County will be present to speak to attendees about career options. Most businesses will be discussing immediate openings in fields including healthcare, HVAC, marine services, customer service, and more. Many will also be sharing information about on-the-job training and long-term career growth within their organizations.
Students are encouraged to print copies of their resumes for distribution. “We know of at least three students who brought resumes to the fair last year,” Heather D’Ippolito, Lincoln Academy’s Director of Community Engagement and Development said. “And they all left the fair with job offers. It’s so exciting to see students and employers utilizing this event.”
In addition, Lincoln Academy will be encouraging students to sign up to pick up a bag lunch and join potential employers at their tables for lunch-and-learn conversations about prospective career paths during the quieter hours of the fair.
“Now that we are heading into our fifth year, one of the positive developments is seeing young alumni come back to represent their business at the job fair,” said Lincoln Academy Head of School Jeffrey Burroughs. “Current students recognize former teammates and friends staffing the employer tables, and it makes the connection–not to mention their future career prospects–that much more personal.”
