Lincoln Academy ceramics seniors Sophia Drum and Reese Achorn have their ceramics pieces on display at a ceramics show at Watershed Center for the Ceramic Arts in Edgecomb.

Their work is part of the Second Annual Maine K-12 Clay, a ceramic arts exhibition featuring student work from across the state.

Both students are part of Jonathan Mess’s yearlong ceramics class at LA. Mr. Mess submitted their pieces to a juried show, and they were selected alongside other student ceramicists from around the state.

“Having my work in a statewide show is not only an incredible opportunity but also an amazing way to view some of my peers’ work,” said LA senior Reese Achorn. “I know it means just as much to them as it does to me.”

“What I love about this exhibition is that we all get to see what other schools are making out of clay from all around the state,” said Mr. Mess. “We are so lucky to live so close to Watershed. I love hearing great conversations about process, concept, beauty, it’s art! I also love that this is the kickoff to art show season. It’s exciting for everyone to go out to a gallery on a Friday evening, share some hors d’oeuvres, and mingle with other creative folks. It’s a happening event!”
