A Snowy Return to Campus
Welcome back! After a week off from academics, plus two bonus snow days this week, classes are back in swing as the Lincoln Academy community prepares for the end of Trimester Two. As this important milestone approaches, we encourage students to check in with their teachers about their current grades and assignments, as well as any steps they can take to finish the trimester strong.
Although classes technically resumed this week, the aforementioned snow days created a bit of a staggered return from break. During that time, our dorm community had the chance to unpack, reset after the week away, and prepare for the weeks ahead. And of course, there was plenty of time spent outdoors, enjoying the fresh snow, building snowmen, and engaging in some spirited (and friendly) snowball fights.
In the next several weeks, our Winter Sports teams will gather for their end-of-season awards ceremonies. These celebrations recognize the dedication, growth, challenges, and accomplishments students experienced throughout the season, and mark its official close. There won’t be much of a pause before the next season begins, as Spring sports are right around the corner. Sign-ups are already underway, and we encourage students to step into the new season with enthusiasm, positivity, and a strong commitment to the sport they choose. As a reminder, when a student commits to a team, they are making a commitment to the full season, including all practices, training, and competitions. Being part of a team requires consistency, accountability, and follow-through. If a student is unsure about being able to participate for the entire season, we encourage them to thoughtfully consider whether joining a Spring sport is the right decision at this time.
Our first weekend back will be filled with a plethora of fun adventures! On Friday, we are taking a trip to Portland for a Maine Celtics Basketball Game, then the fun will continue on Saturday with a trip to a roller skating rink, followed by a game night in the dorm. Finally, more than half of the dorm will bundle up for a ski trip to Sugarloaf Mountain on Sunday. There, they will meet up with a large group of day students and other Lincoln Academy community members, and engage in a wonderful day of skiing and snowboarding.
Please be on the lookout for upcoming communication around April Break. We will soon be requesting travel information for students who will be gone for the week of 4/18-4/26, and remaining payments for students who will join us in New York City for the dorm trip that week! If you have any questions ahead of April Break, please reach out to the Residential Life Office.
Be well and take care,
