The End of a Cold and Snowy January

It’s hard to believe that we are halfway through the second trimester of the school year, and that we are approaching the last weekend in January. Students have been working hard to keep up with the rigor of their academics and other extra-curricular activities. Looking ahead, we’re excited to see what the second half of the trimester will bring- hopefully more snow is in the forecast!

Last Friday night proved to be a lot of fun as a group of students took a trip to Brunswick to participate in an escape room. We worked together to successfully solve problems, puzzles, and challenges, and shared some laughs while doing so. On Saturday, after supporting our Boys’ and Girls’ JV basketball teams at their home games, a large group of students played BINGO in the dorm lobby. We had a great turnout and offered some fabulous prizes for some good old-fashioned fun!

After a fun and relaxing evening in the dorm, the majority of our dorm students hopped on the bus to Sugarloaf Mountain to join a large number of day students and other community members for LA’s all-school ski day on Sunday! Despite the cold temperatures, our well-equipped and resilient students had an amazing day on the slopes. Lincoln Academy’s takeover of the mountain was a success, and we are looking forward to more ski days in our future.

On Sunday evening into Monday morning, we had a major snowstorm, resulting in a snow day on Monday, as well as a two-hour delay on Tuesday morning. Many members of the Lincoln Academy community had the opportunity for some much-needed relaxation and reset as a result of the delays. We had a lot of fun hanging out in the dorm and venturing out to brave the cold for a snowball fight and some sledding.

This weekend will be another busy one! After a special dinner on campus with the Board of Trustees, we will take students bowling in Hallowell on Friday night, and on Saturday, we will take a larger group to shop at the Freeport Outlets. Sunday will be a day of hanging out and resetting our spaces in the dorm, with allotted open gym time for students to get some physical activity in, as well as a quiet study hall to prepare for the week of academics ahead

Be well and take care,
