Welcome Back!

It is an exciting time at Lincoln Academy! After the return from winter break, community members are back in the swing of things and pushing through the second trimester. We hope everyone had a wonderful time away from school and a happy holiday season! In the dorm, we are happy to have all of our students back from their home countries and vacation destinations. We are also lucky enough to have welcomed a handful of new students! We are excited to have Charlotte from Germany, Daniela from the Czech Republic, Nathan from Vietnam, Nikola from Serbia, and Seoyoon from South Korea now living in KB Hall with us. Welcome!

We would like to congratulate all of our dorm students who earned the prestigious ranking of either High Honor Roll or Honor Roll- kudos to Alvaro, Iker, Juliane, Richard, Liv, Jessica, Lucy, Valerie, Cosimo, Veronika, Violet, Tate, Mint, Camila, Liz, Bence, and Gabriela! Keep it up!

With academics in mind, it is important to note that the midpoint of the second trimester is January 23rd. Students should be actively monitoring their grades and checking in with their teachers frequently, especially if there is room for improvement.

Students also enjoyed cheering their peers on at the home wrestling match that took place on Thursday. Last Friday, students gathered to watch the LA Boys’ Varsity Basketball game on campus, cheering on their fellow community members. We love seeing our students supporting one another! On Saturday, we took two full vans to go shopping at Walmart and TJ Maxx- familiar destinations for those who have been with us all year, and exciting new places for our new students to discover. After a day of shopping, students participated in team games in the gym. Finally, on Sunday, a group of 14 students went back to Sugarloaf Mountain for a ski trip, while another group took a nice walk to visit Doubling Point Lighthouse with a pit stop in the quaint town of Bath to grab pastries and coffees at a local cafe.

Another weekend filled with fun and engaging activities is approaching! This coming weekend is a holiday weekend in the United States, with Monday being Martin Luther King Jr. Day. To celebrate, we are offering a volunteer activity for students to go wood-stacking on Saturday. Additionally, students will have the opportunity to go to an arcade on Saturday night, as well as another ski trip on Sunday. For those students not interested in skiing, there will also be a special shopping trip running.

Finally, on Monday, students will spend some quiet time in the dorm, but in the morning, we will be holding our annual Winter Polar Dip! We will head to the Damariscotta Boat Landing where a brave group of students and dorm parents will take a dip in the water! We will also be holding our first cooking competition of the year- students will compete in groups of 3-4 and dorm parents will be judging what they have cooked. Business will return to usual on Monday evening with a quiet study hall in the dorm to help students prepare for another week of school.

If you have not yet confirmed your child’s plan for the upcoming breaks from school, please do so as soon as possible. If you know your child will be staying in the dorm for February break, please submit a $200 deposit as soon as you can. The payment is submittable via this link.

Turning our attention to April Break: at 9:00AM this coming Monday, January 19th, a link will be sent out for you to submit a deposit to secure a spot on our trip to New York City.

Please bear with us as we are recovering from having some major technical issues with our website. We are working on it, and it will soon revert back to showing accurate information.
