The Most Wonderful Time of the Year!
The past few weeks have been very busy, and last weekend was no exception. On Friday night, we loaded up two vans with students and set out for a shopping trip at TJ Maxx and Walmart in Brunswick. Students were eager to shop for their friends and loved ones, as well as to purchase gifts for the White Elephant gift exchange that took place in the dorm on Saturday night.Â
On Saturday, after our usual gym and grocery shopping trips, community members spent some time decorating Christmas cookies. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed decorating (and especially eating!) sugar cookies baked by the school’s dining commons staff. Shortly after, students gathered on the couches for our gift exchange. A wide variety of gifts were exchanged, and everyone who participated walked away with a special memento.
Friday and Saturday were just the beginning of the fun activities- Sunday may have been the busiest day of the weekend ! A group of smiling students woke up and departed from the dorm at 6:30 in the morning on Sunday to make the two-hour trek to Sugarloaf Mountain. Alongside Mr. Abbott and Ms. Nicketakis, students of various abilities and experience levels spent the day on the slopes. Another group of students departed from the dorm with a group of school ambassadors to go ice-skating. What a fun, winter-activity filled day!
Finally, on Sunday evening, Justin, Nicolas Z., and Violet participated in the Sounds of the Season LA Winter Choral Concert at St. Patrick’s Church. Members of the broader Lincoln Academy community were lucky to witness such a beautiful evening. Congratulations on a fantastic concert!Â
December is truly a bittersweet time in the dorm. While faculty, staff, and students are excited to have two weeks off from school and to be able to celebrate with friends and families, we are also sad to see Julia D, Duda, Max P, and Victor depart from the dorm. You have been amazing community members and we hope you enjoyed your time in Kiah Bailey Hall as much as we all did. We wish you all the best in your future endeavors!Â
The dorm will be closed from December 20th until January 4th. If you have not yet communicated your return travel plans for January, please submit them to Orah as soon as possible! While you are home with your families, please also take some time to discuss both February and April Vacations.
We wish you all safe travels to and from Midcoast Maine, and look forward to seeing you in the new year! Have a happy, healthy holiday season, and a wonderful start to your 2026.
