Pumpkinfest and a Long Weekend!

This coming weekend, we look forward to four days off!  Pumpkinfest is our town’s showcase event, and the weekend will be full of entertainment, volunteering and giant pumpkins. Check out the website for a full list of events and photos that truly express the uniqueness of a Pumpkin Regatta!  Our ResLife students will be spending a few hours on Saturday and Sunday helping out at the KidZone, an area of the festival for children to play, learn and explore. Our volunteering efforts continue to be promoted, and students are being encouraged to engage as much as possible.

It is not uncommon for students to miss family and feel more homesick this time of year.  Encourage your student to be in regular communication and talk about how they’re feeling.  We work to manage homesickness by providing many opportunities for group meetings in the dormitory, special events for each wing, and encourage students to embrace the changes and challenges of this school year.

An important reminder on academic integrity:  Similar to colleges and universities, Lincoln Academy takes cheating and plagiarism very seriously and a cheating infraction can result in academic suspension and possible expulsion.  You can read more about academic policy in the Lincoln Academy Student Handbook. Please let us know if you have any questions.

October 9 marks the halfway point in the first trimester and mid-trimester grade reports will be sent to families at the end of the month.  Mid-trimester grades do not appear on final transcripts, but they do provide a “snapshot” of academic performance so far in the school year.  Please be in touch with your student about their progress and goals in each of their courses and let us know if you have any questions or concerns.

Travel Plans into Orah

Thank you to those of you who have accepted the Orah invitation. This is the software that we’ll use to organize travel information for the year.  I have instructed students to orient themselves to this software as well.

  • If your student is traveling over Thanksgiving week (November 22 – 30), please submit those plans by October 15.
  • Please submit December travel information into Orah by October 15.

We wish you well!
