Halloween Festivities and College Football!

On Friday, October 31st, students will have the opportunity to dress up and go trick-or-treating, a longtime American tradition filled with joy and candy. The dorm will have a costume contest- best individual, best group or best thrifted/created costume. Those that want to trick-or-treat can walk downtown to Glidden street, which will be decorated and lined with people disguised as witches, vampires, and ghouls. Students will return to the dorms around 9pm, where they will gather to enjoy their candy and share stories about their authentic American Halloween experience.

Last weekend, students loaded up on a school bus with Mr. Abbott and Ms. Tan to travel to The University of Maine in Orono for an American football game ! Attendees were able to explore the campus and witness what it means to tailgate before a big sporting event.

This week marked the official end of the fall sports season for all of our athletes who participated. On Tuesday night, the girls’ varsity soccer team suffered a tough loss at Greely, ending their season. On Wednesday night, the varsity boys soccer team battled the number one seed Yarmouth, and after a tough match, lost. It has been a blast watching both teams play all season- Now it’s time to gear up for winter sports !

Speaking of, students have been asked to sign up for the winter sport of their choosing. Winter sports options are: Indoor Track, Basketball, Swimming, Wrestling, and Cheerleading. We are excited to have so many students express interest in a winter sport and look forward to supporting them throughout the upcoming season.

We still likely have several weeks until snow falls, but daylight hours are getting shorter, temps dropping, and we are beginning the process of shifting more of our energy indoors.   Remember that we are closed December 20 – January 4 and students or families need to have travel plans submitted in Orah. Please mark your calendar for the upcoming school vacations in November, December, February and April.

Travel Plans into Orah

The dorms are open during Thanksgiving Break.  If your student is traveling during that time, those plans need to be in Orah. Please look ahead to the December break and enter that information into Orah as well.
