End-of-Year Details and Prom
We are in our final weeks of the academic year, and so much planning goes into this time. Senior ResLife students are preparing for graduation exercise and looking forward to seeing their families here in Newcastle! Underclassmen are trying to remain focused and disciplined, preparing for final exams and meeting deadlines. Warmer temperatures and an active sports schedule are keeping many of our students outside in the afternoons.
This weekend, excitement is in the air as many of our students prepare for prom! Students have been buzzing with energy, planning outfits, coordinating rides, and making last-minute preparations for the big night. From choosing dresses and suits to scheduling nail appointments and dinner, the dorm is a hub of activity. We wish all our prom-goers a fun, safe, and unforgettable evening!
With all that is going on, and the inevitable stress that accompanies this time, we are encouraging our students to find balance between work and play, good rest, and a commitment to following rules and expectations around dorm and campus life. This time of year can inspire an increase in truancy, tardiness and mischief that can lead to disciplinary consequences. The ResLife office is striving to provide opportunities to be outside, to exercise and to manage stress.
Shipping & Storage
Closing the dorm and moving students out is a complex process. Seniors are expected to be out of the dorm by 3pm on Saturday, June 7, and underclassmen the following week, by 3pm on Friday, June 13. Dorm staff will supervise the packing and cleaning of rooms, sorting items no longer wanted, supporting shipping of items that won’t fit in suitcases, and ensuring that records, medications, and other belongings are returned. Please work with your students to ensure that they understand the need to be organized and efficient as we work to complete these important tasks.
Any returning student may leave items in the dorm storage area. All items must be boxed and well-labeled. For anyone not returning, all personal belongings must be packed, donated, or shipped prior to leaving campus. End-of-year departure plans are now past due in Orah.
Any senior, attending college in the US, may leave items in the dorm storage area. Boxes must be addressed and money will be kept in their ER fund account to pay for shipping those items in the fall.
