Lincoln Academy senior Jayden Brown is a National Merit Finalist after three rounds of selection. The National Merit selection process is based on students’ PSAT scores.
Over 1.5 million students took the PSAT from the Class of 2025. Jayden was one of 50,000 students with the highest scores to receive recognition from the National Merit Scholarship Program, and this fall he was one of the 16,000 high scorers who were notified that they had qualified as semi finalists. Students who become semi finalists are invited to submit an application that includes the student’s transcript, essays, and recommendations. From that pool, finalists are selected and make it to the final round to be selected as a National Merit Scholar. About half of all finalists are awarded a scholarship, and those will be announced later this spring.
“In addition to being an exceptional student, Jayden is an outstanding musician and standout member of the math team,” said Lincoln Academy Director of College and Career Counseling Annie Edwards. “It is no surprise that he had excellent scores on his PSATs and has been chosen as a National Merit Finalist.”
Jayden plans to study statistics at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island next year.
