Welcoming Agents from Around the World
On Wednesday, the Admissions and Residential Life departments hosted a visit from the ABC Education Group. Representing 7 countries, the agents participated in a brief tour of campus and were able to catch a few classes in session. Our guests observed special meetings of the debate team, robotics team and an advanced jewelry making demonstration. The LA’s honors choir, the Lincolnaires, joined us in KB Hall for an impromptu performance of “Time”. After a quick tour of the dorm, and some delicious treats from the dining commons, our visitors had a chance to hear from current dorm students and ask them questions about their experiences at LA. Gabi, Daniel, Michael, Andrea, Gellert, Jao and Zuzana spoke eloquently and confidently about their experience at Lincoln Academy. They emphasized their experiences in academics, on athletic teams, and as part of the LA community.
As always, agents were immediately struck by how friendly and comfortable Lincoln Academy faculty and students are. A particularly wonderful moment was when other dorm students came to meet with the agents and support their friends on the panel. We were able to facilitate many enthusiastic conversations between agents and students, in Spanish, Italian, Vietnamese and German. The LA staff were impressed and proud of the welcoming atmosphere that our students helped create.
We are approaching the final week of the first Trimester. This can be a stressful and demanding time, as students prepare to meet final deadlines. Please check in with your students regularly and encourage them to take advantage of the many recreational activities offered during the weekend. Hiking, shopping and hearing music are wonderful ways to decrease stress, gain perspective and deepen friendships within the community.
The winter sports season will begin next week. Student athletes need to be properly prepared with the required equipment. The following is a list of equipment that students will need:
- Indoor Track & Field: Running shoes
- Swim Team: Bathing suit, goggles, towel
- Wrestling: Wrestling shoes, mouth guard
- Cheerleading: Sneakers
- Basketball: High ankle basketball shoes
Travel Plans into Orah
The dorms are closed during the December holiday break. If your student is traveling during that time, those plans need to be in Orah now.
- Approved dates for traveling are December 20, after school and December 21. The approved return date is Sunday, January 5.
- For those who have requested home stays, please note that we are currently developing those plans and will communicate those details in the first week of December.
December SAT Exam
Seniors are encouraged to take the SAT exam. There is an upcoming testing date of December 7, located at Lincoln Academy. Please register your student by November 22 through this website. Information about the College Board and its role in academics can be found here.

Approved 2024/ 2025 Resident Student Travel Dates

All air travel must be via Portland International Jetport — Airport code: PWM
All arriving students MUST e-mail a flight itinerary to Ms. Monica Tan, Director of Residential Life, no later than July 15.

Suppose a student wishes to stay with a family during a vacation. In that case, Lincoln Academy Residential Life will make every effort to find a host family. Still, it is NOT Lincoln Academy’s responsibility to find host families for students wishing to stay in the area when the dorms are closed. If a student wishes to stay with a host family during vacation, the student’s family will be charged a daily fee of $75 per day per student by Lincoln Academy. A vacation homestay stipend will be paid to the host family to defray the cost of food, transportation, and entertainment expenses.
Vacation camps and other trips will be offered during the February and April vacations. Host family opportunities will not be offered during these vacations. Boarding students wishing to participate will be charged additional fees for these trips. It is important to sign up early for these opportunities.
