A Homecoming Weekend to Remember!

As we mentioned last week, Lincoln Academy is firmly rooted in community and tradition.  This past weekend, those values were showcased all over campus, featuring many of our own ResLife students.  In addition to the photos on LA’s Flickr page and game coverage on Youtube,  I’ve included a slideshow below to capture some familiar faces.   It was heartening to see so many of our students participating in these events, creating memories and integrating into the greater Lincoln Academy community.

A number of our students are taking the SAT exam this weekend.  This exam is a “multiple-choice, paper and pencil test, created and administered by the College Board.  The purpose of the SAT is to measure a high school student’s readiness for college, and provide colleges with one common data point that can be used to compare all applicants.” (The Princeton Review)   In addition to the SAT, junior high schoolers have the opportunity to take the PSAT next Wednesday.  This exam is often taken by Juniors and is one that will help prepare them for the SAT.   For more information about SAT, PSAT and AP Exams, please visit our testing page.

This weekend, we will be enjoying a group activity at Monkey C Monkey Do. This is a local event where students climb an elevated ropes course using a harness.  All students will attend this activity, with the goal of enriching their local experience, deepening their relationships with each other, and forging new friendships.   We look forward to sharing pictures of Sunday’s experience with you all.

Travel Plans into Orah

Thank you to those of you who have accepted the Orah invitation. This is the software that we’ll use to organize travel information for the year.  I have instructed students to orient themselves to this software as well.

  • If your student is traveling over Thanksgiving week (November 25 – 29), please submit those plans by October 18.
  • Please submit December travel information into Orah by November 8.

Be well and take care,

Approved 2024/ 2025 Resident Student Travel Dates

air travel

All air travel must be via Portland International Jetport — Airport code:  PWM

All arriving students MUST e-mail a flight itinerary to Ms. Monica Tan, Director of Residential Life, no later than July 15.

Suppose a student wishes to stay with a family during a vacation. In that case, Lincoln Academy Residential Life will make every effort to find a host family. Still, it is NOT Lincoln Academy’s responsibility to find host families for students wishing to stay in the area when the dorms are closed. If a student wishes to stay with a host family during vacation, the student’s family will be charged a daily fee of $75 per day per student by Lincoln Academy. A vacation homestay stipend will be paid to the host family to defray the cost of food, transportation, and entertainment expenses.

Vacation camps and other trips will be offered during the February and April vacations.  Host family opportunities will not be offered during these vacations.  Boarding students wishing to participate will be charged additional fees for these trips. It is important to sign up early for these opportunities.
