The 2024-25 boarding students and staff at Lincoln Academy visited Pemaquid Lighthouse over Labor Day weekend. Lincoln Academy will open this year with 42 students and six staff families in KB Hall Dorm
As Lincoln Academy opens for the 2024-25 school year, 42 international boarding students will join 540 local students on campus. These students come from 18 different countries from around the world. Countries with the highest number of students enrolled are Germany, Vietnam, Spain, Thailand, and Czech Republic. Director of Admissions Katy Nicketakis interviewed each of the students and helped them to complete the application process.
“I’m really proud of the group of students we have this year,” she said. “Their presence in classes, on the sports fields, and in clubs will offer new perspectives to students from our local area.”
Most of the international boarding students have enrolled for the entire school year, but some will stay only for part of the year. Students come for a variety of reasons, but often families and students cite a desire to have a new experience, improve their English, and make new friends as top motivating factors.
Petr Basler traveled to Newcastle from the Czech Republic to bring his daughter Isi to Lincoln Academy’s campus. He commented on why his family chose Lincoln Academy.
“For us, it was important to find a school with a variety of classes which would fit our wishes, especially Computer Science and Graphic Design. Also we were looking for a school with a successful history in a nice and safe location. Most important was to find a school with a dorm and great community,” he said.
Community members who are interested in interacting with some of the international boarding students are invited to contact Monica Tan, Director of Residential Life, at Lincoln Academy to explore options such as vacation homestay families.
