Members of the LA Student Council presented proceeds from this year’s coin slam to Clyde Pendleton, Director of the Bristol Parks and Recreation Department (and a graduate in the LA class of 1972). Back row from left: Helen Duffy, Eva Whitmore, Eren Aybas, Greg Demerritt, Hamilton Pierpan. Middle row from left: Franny DeGeer, Anna Lupien, Noa Burchesky, Zoe Hufnagel, Nandi Gero. Front row from left: Arsen Mikaylen, Dana Lee, Student Gavin Peck, and Clyde Pendleton.

The Lincoln Academy 2024 Winter Carnival Coin Slam proceeds are supporting to support the restoration of the Bell House at Pemaquid Lighthouse, which was destroyed in the January storms. “We wanted to make a donation to a local cause,” said LA 2023-24 Student Body President Gavin Peck, “and it made sense to do something for our community that lost so much in the recent storms. It especially makes sense because they are restoring a bell house, and so are we.” The Pemaquid Lighthouse bell and the Lincoln Academy bell were both cast by Henry Hooper in Boston, Massachusetts in the 1850s.

The Winter Carnival Coin Slam is a traditional part of LA winter carnival, and offers friendly competition between classes–for a cause.
