The Adventures of Tintin were a huge part of my childhood. As the younger sibling, my job was to like everything my sister liked, and do everything she did. You know the saying “if they jumped off a bridge, would you do it too”? I would walk off the plank into shark infested water. Meaning that when she decided to hyperfixate on this series, I had to do the same. There was only one problem, I couldn’t read. It is also possible that I simply refused to read, the memories aren’t fully clear. Anyway, everytime my sister would finish a Tintin book I would flip through the pages, piecing together the story based on the drawings. Watching as Tintin and Snowy ran through the lush Amazon rainforest, or escaped from pirates in a rickety dingy. This series will always hold a special place in my heart as the books that sprinkled fairy dust into my childhood, and connected me with my favorite person.
