Final Trimester

Welcome to the third trimester of the school year.  As you read this there are only 44 school days until graduation!  This time in the school year moves fast as we begin the transition to celebratory events for the end of the year. Spring Sports begin this week and we have a large number of students taking part.  We are thrilled to have so many talented athletes as well as theater performers in our community.

As we begin the push toward the end of the year please make note of our celebrations, programming, and offerings.

SAT:  The SAT exam will be offered at Lincoln Academy on May 6th.   More details:  https://lincolnacademy.org/college-board-and-esol-testing/

FRESHMEN:
Bath Tech is offering a FREE summer program for rising sophomores (current ninth graders) focusing on Science, Tech, Engineering, Art, and Math. Students can take part in their choice of programming including: Automotive, Culinary/Baking, Welding, Carpentry, Graphic Design, Electricity, and Cosmetology. Transportation can be provided, please inquire. CAC recommends that students with any interest in attending Voc in the future take advantage of this opportunity. Applications have been given to freshman advisors.

SOPHOMORES:
Sophomores who signed up will be taking the PSAT on March 23, 2023. We are asking sophomores to please arrive by 7:30am and enter through the gym doors to check-in. Students need to bring #2 pencils, calculator, a snack, water, and an extra layer in case it’s hot or cold in the gym. Please send them to CAC if they have any questions or concerns.

Rotary Youth Leadership Award  is an opportunity for sophomores to develop leadership skills at a summer leadership camp with other students from around Maine. Please explore the website here, and application materials and brochure here. Applications are due 3/31/23.

JUNIORS:
Juniors who are considering four year college or university, please log into your Collegeboard account and sign up for the SAT. The May SAT will be at LA and the deadline to sign up for this test is April 7. Please reach out to your counselor if you have questions or concerns.

The local P.E.O. International Chapter (https://www.peointernational.org/) is offering a $500 scholarship to a female high school junior who exemplifies excellence in leadership, academics, extra-curricular activities, and community service. This scholarship application is due by 4/30/2023. For more information, please speak with your school counselor.

SENIORS:
Many seniors are hearing back from schools with final decisions and financial aid packages. Last week’s FAME presentation about comparing financial aid packages was recorded and is published on our website. Please feel free to check it out!

Scholarships are updated regularly and posted in Naviance! Encourage your senior to check often. Additionally the CAC office will be running a FLB that will meet weekly to give seniors time to research and apply for scholarships. FLB’s have been shared with students, but feel free to speak with your senior about this option.
