Four Lincoln Academy students who attend Bath Regional Career and Technical Center were honored as Students of the Semester at the BRCTC Recognition Breakfast on February 3, 2023. Junior CJ Savastano is a first year Graphic Design student, senior Cooper Stevens is a second year graphic design student, junior Eleanor Nery is a first year Culinary Arts student, and senior Zach Poland is a second year carpentry student. As part of the selection process, their teachers wrote short descriptions of their accomplishments.
“CJ comes to class with enthusiasm, a positive attitude, and goes beyond expectations on his projects. CJ has a strong attention for design fundamentals, wrote his teacher, Kelley Brochu. “As a first year student CJ created the winning logo design for the Sagadahoc Education Association! Aside from visual design, CJ is a musician and a long distance runner! He will thrive in any direction he goes.”
Of Cooper Stevens Brochu wrote, “Cooper has strong Photoshop skills and a great sense of humor! Cooper arrives at class each day with a positive attitude. He always uses class time to create whether it be an assignment or his own personal design. Aside from creative graphics, Cooper writes his own lyrics and composes his own musical beats. Cooper exudes creativity.”
Culinary Arts teachers Elizabeth Baldwin and Angelique Tamburo wrote that, “Eleanor Nery is an outstanding student. A few words that come to mind are: consistent, reliable and hard working. You can always count on Eleanor to be present and ready to work. Her attitude has always been tremendous and consistent, and to top that all off she is great at what she does. She is very good at knowing what her resources are and using them to their full benefit. I do believe Eleanor will be very successful in everything she does as she possesses the necessary skills, characteristics and attitude to complete whatever is before her.”
Carpentry teachers Bernier and Adler wrote, “This is Zach’s second year in carpentry and he has made great strides in what is expected of his work ethic and eagerness to learn. Since the end of last year, Zach has been very clear with all his classmates and instructors that he wanted to be student of the semester. Zach has worked really hard to achieve his goal. I believe Zach has a great opportunity to become a very successful carpenter if that is where his passion leads.”
BRCTC prepares students for the workforce by providing them with the necessary knowledge, skills, and experience to excel in their chosen careers. The Students of the Semester program recognizes the importance of technical education and its role in developing a skilled workforce.
Lincoln Academy School Counselor Jose Cordero and Dean of Students Jake Abbott were present at the breakfast. “It is great to see students honored for their work at BRCTC,” said Abbott. “We are very proud of these students and happy that Lincoln can partner with BRCTC, offering our students access to their excellent programs and facilities.”
