Residential Life Update – March 20, 2022

Spring has Sprung!

With the change of clocks that comes with daylight savings time here in Maine, the daytime hours stretch to nearly 8 pm, which is a welcome change after months of darkness!  Lots of rain in the last week has washed away all of the snow along the coast, but a little remains in the western Maine mountains – where I brought a group for one final ski trip of the season!

Next week brings the start of spring athletics on campus and with that comes the business of the end of the school year.  We will begin focusing on warm-weather activities and getting outside more.  A group of our students will be on a New England College tour next weekend and many are thinking ahead to end-of-year plans and graduation.

Another big thing going on in the last week is that we welcomed two new MidCoast Boarding Trimester Students.  Junior, Olivia Nixon, and Senior Gabs Hagar.  They will be a part of this residential community through the end of the year and continue to build up relationships with the communities that surround Lincoln Academy.

Worth noting, we had one student this past week contract COVID. While we were unmasked as a community, we have yet to detect any transmission within the res life community.  We have implemented universal masking and other safety protocols and will continue to monitor and test to ensure we contain any additional spread.  If additional messaging is necessary, I will send out a message!

Be sure to scan email for grades from the second trimester.  If you didn’t receive them, please let me know.  With, just four weeks to April vacation here is another reminder that confirmed plans need to be submitted to the Residential Life Office by April 1.

Sincerely,

Jake Abbott
Dean of Students and Director of Residential Life
Lincoln Academy
