MLK Weekend
This week has been full of exciting student activities including indoor climbing, bowling, a ski trip, and bingo. Tomorrow is a national holiday in honor of Martin Luther King Jr., a champion of the Civil Rights Movement in the US and known around the globe for promoting nonviolent protest in the face of injustice and inequality. We hope to honor Dr. King’s legacy with opportunities for community service, reflection, and a showing and discussion of the movie Selma.
The halfway point for the second trimester is January 21st. Please check in with your student about their course work so far this grading period. Teachers are here to help with any questions or concerns: https://lincolnacademy.org/academics/
COVID-19 numbers continue to rise in the region. We are using multiple tactics to track cases that may impact the Lincoln Academy community, including weekly testing. Updates on anything concerning will be relayed promptly to students, families, and staff.
Travel plans for Winter Break are due January 28. There is still time to register for Winter Camp at Kieve-Wavus. If your student does not have plans for Spring Break in April, my family will be traveling to Myrtle Beach in South Carolina and a limited number of students may join this trip. Details and registration for both of these opportunities are below and on our website. Please be in touch with any questions about the upcoming school vacations. Â
Sincerely,
Jake Abbott
