Welcome Back
Welcome back from Thanksgiving Break! Students who remained on campus have had a restful vacation with activities including shopping trips, special holiday meals, a “turkey trot” 5K walk/run, movies, ice skating, and today we kicked off the holiday season with a trip to a tree farm to harvest a Christmas tree. We decorated the tree, set up the Menorah, walked downtown to see the annual holiday parade and light display, and enjoyed each others company as the holiday season kicks off. There are now just three short weeks until the long December vacation!
I’m very proud of the number of Residential Life students who participated in community service opportunities over the break including helping to assemble Thanksgiving meals for 265 Lincoln County households. LA volunteers included Changshen Li (China), Gabriel Luna (Brazil), Angela Serantes (Spain), Elisa Greco (Italy), Susan Levesque (USA), Austin Levesque (USA), Emma Abbott (USA), and Agata Marini (Italy).
Tomorrow marks the start of the second trimester of the school year. Students who have new trimester-long elective courses starting this week and should be sure to check their schedules and let school counselor Jose Cordero know if they have any questions. Trimester 2 includes two school vacations, Holiday Break: December 18 – January 3 and Winter Break: February February 19 – 27. Grades will close for the second trimester on March 11.
We had our first real snowfall over the weekend and we are looking forward to more winter and holiday events including concerts, viewing light displays, sledding, skiing, and more. The Holiday Break is just 3 weeks away starting on December 18. Some students will be traveling while others will be staying with local host families and experiencing holiday traditions here in Maine. Approved travel dates for the upcoming breaks can be found at the following link: https://lincolnacademy.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Approved-Res-Life-Travel-Dates-2021_2022-3_11_21-1.pdf
As always, please don’t hesitate to be in touch with any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Jake Abbott

SENIORS: To Report, or Not to Report Testing? That is the Question.
Choose your own adventure in reporting your SAT scores (or not). Here are the steps:
- Go to the school’s admission website to find out if they are testing optional and if the major/program that you are applying for is testing optional. Sometimes schools are testing optional, but they will require tests for Nursing, Engineering, or another specific program.
- If your school is testing optional, talk with your counselor about your test scores and if it is in your best interest to submit your tests. This is a strategic move and we want to take advantage of this opportunity.
