Host families from the community are needed for Lincoln Academy international students unable to return home during school vacations.

Please consider welcoming a student into your home!

“Providing a homestay to an international student can be a great opportunity to learn about another culture,” says Sarah Kennedy from LA’s Residential Life Program.  “Our students see this as a chance to improve their English language skills and get to know the community better.  They are surrounded by their peers here in the dorms, but homestays give them a chance to build a relationship with a family and gain a better understanding of what it means to live in Maine.”

Students are typically placed in groups of two and we provide a small daily stipend to offset expenses associated with room and board.  Families can opt to host for all or part of the break, or even just invite students for a special holiday event.

Lincoln Academy is looking for host families for the following school vacations:

  • Holiday Vacation:  December 18 – January 2, 2022
  • Winter Vacation: February 19 – February 22, 2022
  • Spring Vacation:  April 16 – April 24, 2022
