Orah and Vacation Plans
We’re getting ready for Halloween fun this week with pumpkin carving, movies, a trip to Canobie Lake Park’s “Screamfest,” costume planning, and treats. On Friday our students will be handing out goodies to children from the community as part of Lincoln Academy’s first Trunk-o-Treat celebration.
All new student families should have received an email last week with a link to connect to Orah. This is the tool we used to track student attendance and enables parents and guardians to share and approve travel plans. Parents will also use Orah to give their child permission to take part in off-campus activities and vacation travel that require parent permission. Please let us know if you have any questions about your Orah account.
Looking ahead, we have the major American holiday of Thanksgiving in November and our first school vacation of the year. The dormitory will remain open during this time and there will be opportunities for students to experience Maine Thanksgiving traditions. Please let us know as soon as possible if your student is making plans to travel during the Thanksgiving break. Please use your new Orah account to submit travel plans for your child – or ask them to and simply approve the travel plan once the notification comes to you. We will also be requesting travel plans for the December, February, and April holidays soon. Click here to review Approved Travel Dates: https://lincolnacademy.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Approved-Res-Life-Travel-Dates-2021_2022-3_11_21-1.pdf
Please note that we ask for all December travel plans to be submitted by November 12th at the latest!! Thank you for your support in getting this process started!
Sincerely,
Jake Abbott

SENIORS: Senior Meetings with School Counselors
Mrs. Abbott and Mrs. Blodgett are scheduling senior meetings with school counselors during study halls. Senior meetings are important as they help plan for life after high school whether it is college, the military, or employment. Seniors will receive an invitation to an IN PERSON meeting through their LA email. Seniors should check their LA email account often for their meeting invitation, and accept the invitation or decline if unable to attend. Thank you for your patience while CAC schedules senior meetings.
SENIORS: Come to CAC for Common App Help!
If you need help with the Common Application or any college application, come to the CAC Office. We have Common App samples that you can use as you work through your application, and school counselors are here to also look over your applications before you submit them.

SENIORS: SAT November 6th Test Date Held at Lincoln Academy
- Late Registration Deadline for an additional fee: October 26, 2021
- See your school counselor for help or questions.
MANY colleges and universities are test-optional this year Test-Optional Colleges/Universities and MANY of you will not need the SAT. For seniors wanting to test, LA will be administering the SAT on Saturday, November 6th. Sign up for the SAT on Collegeboard.org. There are a limited number of spots and October 26th is the late registration deadline. A late fee will be charged if you register now. If you are uncertain about testing, please check out the link above or contact your guidance counselor. Questions or concerns? Email Ms. Gleason at gleason@lincolnacademy.org.
SENIORS: To Report, or Not to Report Testing? That is the Question.
Choose your own adventure in reporting your SAT scores (or not). Here are the steps:
- Go to the school’s admission website to find out if they are testing optional and if the major/program that you are applying for is testing optional. Sometimes schools are testing optional, but they will require tests for Nursing, Engineering, or another specific program.
- If your school is testing optional, talk with your counselor about your test scores and if it is in your best interest to submit your tests. This is a strategic move and we want to take advantage of this opportunity.
