It’s been a lovely winter week here in Maine. We’re experiencing chilly temperatures, but students are enjoying both indoor and outdoor fun including pottery, skiing, and games. Winter Carnival, Lunar New Year Celebrations, and February break are all on the horizon. More details on each of these events can be found below.
As always, please don’t hesitate to be in touch if you have any questions about activities, dorm life, or your student’s academic progress. You can contact me directly or connect with teaches through our staff directory.
Best regards,
Lincoln Academy’s Winter Carnival starts February 8th
This annual celebration at LA includes games, dress-up, class competitions, and more. Students will be signing up for special events with their advisor group this week. The 2021 celebration will be unique with a mix of hybrid and in-person activities.
February Break “Staycation”
Our next school vacation is February 13-21 and Residential Life is preparing for a Maine “staycation” with opportunities to explore the state from the mountains to the sea. Travel restrictions remain in effect, dorms will be open, and there will be a full range of programming offered to students coordinated through the Residential Life Office and our Kieve-Wavus Educators in Residence.
Lunar New Year in Maine
Lunar New Year has become an annual celebration for Lincoln Academy’s Residential Life program, providing an opportunity for students who may be far away from home to share some of their favorite holiday traditions with our community. This year will be different than others due to restrictions on large gatherings, but there will be a special message about the holiday shared through our virtual community meeting as well as student-made dumplings, a meal planned by students to include specialties from Vietnam and China, fireworks, and decorations. Guidance Office News
Hello Seniors!
Congratulations! You have made it to the mid-trimester mark, which means…YOU ARE HALFWAY DONE WITH YOUR SENIOR YEAR!!! WAHOOO!!!
With that said, we need you to do a bit of housekeeping.
- If you have applied to a college/university, we need you to check your online portals and application status. Log-in to each school’s online portal (and save the username/password) to see if any items have not been received by the college/university. If you are missing something, please let your guidance counselor know. If something is missing at this stage, we can help you take care of it. However, if you let us know that something is missing three weeks from now, there might not be anything you can do about it, which would be very sad.
- Check out Naviance and the list of scholarships. Ms. Blodgett would be happy to help you out if you have any questions or concerns. Set up a GoogleMeet with her if you need help better understanding scholarships.
- If you haven’t applied to college, are still thinking about it, or struggling with your college list, it’s not too late. Email your guidance counselor, we can help!
- If you’re not going to apply to college, but you’re not sure what to do, get in touch with us. We can help with that, too!
Keep us posted about any developments and keep the life after Lincoln plans coming!
Best, Team Guidance
