Second trimester begins today! We are looking forward to getting back in school face-to-face on Monday, December 7.
“Paying attention is one of the kindest things we can do — for ourselves, for others.”
—Sharon Salzberg
As if starting a new trimester here at Lincoln wasn’t exciting enough, we got a wind and rainstorm to throw some trees and power lines in our path. While those obstacles are temporary and we will get forward from here with typical LA resolve and fortitude, we do need to continue to pay attention to our community. Maine certainly finds itself in the grip of this global pandemic and it does appear that the spread of the virus into our communities will continue to increase our anxiety and collective risk of transmission.
As we take this pause from Hybrid learning this week, we will pay attention to information from the CDC, Local and State officials. We will monitor feedback from faculty, staff, students and parents and we will take confidence in the health and safety measures that continue to buoy our resolve to deliver an LA education to all of our students.
In the last few days, as we’ve assembled ourselves, reconnected with peers after some much-needed rest and reflection, I’ve been reminded of how important it is to pay attention to ourselves and those around us. Several in our community have taken the time to write to me to share examples of faculty and staff going out of their way to help a student or another member of our community. The kindness and gratitude that has shone through these emails is just one more aspect of this community to be proud of. In the coming weeks we will certainly be wise to pay special attention to our family and friends. To think more broadly about how our choices can affect those around us and to find comfort in simple acts of kindness that we see in a smile, a note, or an offer to help.
We’re here to help, please let us know if we can do something for you or someone you know in our community.
