Lincoln Academy students in November, 2020.

It is hard to believe we are nearing Thanksgiving break. The fall is always the longest stretch of the school year for both teachers and students. The August energy that fuels the fall is gone with the leaves, and students and teachers alike find themselves holding on for this break to come. This year has presented challenges unlike ever before, and we all have risen to each one. We are heading into the holidays with so much to be thankful for.

I know I am disappointed to not be able to travel and gather with my extended family this break. As travel restrictions and quarantine requirements are raised to combat a rising tide of COVID-19 infections in our state and region, I ask that you too be safe and make decisions with your community in mind. Your efforts affect all of us, and have been central to our remaining open. Your diligent reporting of symptoms and keeping your students home when they are sick makes all the difference. Keep up this work, be in touch with us with questions and concerns, and please keep your families safe while you celebrate, relax, and recharge.

I am tremendously proud of this school: our faculty, staff, students, parents and alumni, and the work we have done this fall to stay open through the first trimester.

If we can do anything for you, please be in touch with us.

Be well and stay safe.

If you do plan to travel, please plan to follow these Maine DOE guidelines for holiday travel intended for families with students in Maine schools.
