Anxiety is not something I knew particularly well before I became a head of school. I have become more comfortable navigating the unknown over these past 8 months mostly due to the support of an incredible community of administrators, teachers, staff, students and parents.
But I am anxious this week, and I know many of you are too. We need to acknowledge that COVID-19 is spreading in our community and it is now making impacts on our lives in ways that we hadn’t seen since our shutdown in March. That is making us nervous, and letting anxiety creep into our minds.
Now, perhaps more than ever, we need to take that anxious energy and use it to increase our vigilance for the health and safety precautions that are our greatest weapon in this fight to date. Keep washing our hands, keep wearing our masks, and think twice about activities that can expose us, our families, and our communities to an increased risk.
I continue to keep the health and safety of our community in careful balance with the educational needs of our students. There are no easy answers and all questions and concerns are welcome. Please keep fighting the good fight. Our greatest asset is our collective strength in this difficult time.
Be well and stay safe.
