Dear Residential Students, Families, and Agents,
Our first group of returned residential students has been out of quarantine for a week now and everyone is settling into new routines and enjoying the beautiful summer weather here in Maine. We continue to follow standards for social distancing and mask-wearing while around people outside of the residential community, but students are spending more time outdoors and gather with their dorm families for activities and family-style meals. A highlight from the past week was students adding some creativity and color to their wardrobes with an outside tie-dying project.Â
We welcomed our second small group of residential students this week. As the first group, these students will spend their first two weeks in Maine in quarantine with regular health screenings. At the end of the quarantine period, they will move into their dorm rooms for the school year. There has been a lot of planning and close coordination with the health center to bring these dedicated students back to campus. It is truly heartwarming to have these teens back “home” at LA and we remain committed to following the best practices to keep our community safe.
As more returning students complete their quarantines, we are looking forward to spending time together enjoying Maine summertime – swimming, seaside visits, fresh seafood, and maybe even a camping trip!
As always, please feel free to contact me with any questions or thoughts as we prepare for the school year ahead. Lincoln Academy’s detailed Back to School Guide can be found at this link: https://lincolnacademy.org/fall-2020-back-to-school-guide/

Student Visa Update
On July 14, 2020, The Trump administration agreed to rescind (reverse and take away) rules it issued on July 7th which would have prevented international students from being in the U.S. if they were taking classes only online. Lincoln Academy has updated its program details with the government, and WILL NOT need to issue updated I20’s to your students through their personal email addresses. Because Lincoln Academy has decided upon a hybrid model, your student’s SEVIS record will remain active and in compliance if we must conduct online classes for a time, whether they are living in the U.S. or outside of the U.S. As long as your student is making normal progress in all of their courses, they will continue to maintain active status. As soon as travel is possible from your country, it is expected that your student make every effort to secure transportation to Lincoln Academy. Please contact Ms. Petersen with any questions.
