Auditions for Lincoln Academy’s Fall Musical, West Side Story, will take place on Tuesday, June 6 from 3:00 – 4:30.
Students should arrive at or as close as possible to 3:00.
WEST SIDE STORY includes roles for 35 students or more . It is based loosely on Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, and the piece was created by some of the greatest artists to ever work on Broadway. Come learn more!
PERFORMANCE DATES: 7 performances between Nov. 3 and 11, 2017 at Poe Theater, Lincoln Academy.
REHEARSALS begin August 31. A tentative rehearsal schedule will be available at the audition.
Rehearsals, including several choreography dates, will include some evenings and weekends.
Students interested in a primary role ( principal characters who sing a solo, duet or small group), should sing something from the show. Bring a karaoke version of the piece you would like to sing to on your computer, smart phone, or other device with a headphone jack.
Principal characters include Tony, Riff, Action, Snowboy, Anybodys, Bernardo, Chino, Maria, Anita, Teresita, Francisca.
See the full character list for the Broadway show below. Be aware that the film has songs and characters that differ from the stage production. We are performing the stage version. The four adult roles will likely be played by adults.
If you do not consider yourself a strong singer or dancer, please just come along with an open mind.
We’ll work in small groups for those who are more comfortable auditioning in that way.
This production is a collaboration between Lincoln Academy and Heartwood Regional Theater Co .
The production is open to students from the entire MidCoast area, including students who will be in 7th or 8th grade in the fall of 2017.
