On Friday, February 26, Lincoln Academy showed the short film The Opiate Effect to the entire LA community. Students were spellbound as Skip Gates, a retired math teacher who lost his son to a heroine overdose, and Maine Assistant — spoke about the realities and dangers of opiate addiction. At the end of the presentation the students gave a standing ovation; a remarkable tribute with such a difficult subject. To learn more about this presentation, read the Lincoln County News article, read the school’s memo to parents, or watch The Opiate Effect, which is free online, in its entirety. This presentation had a profound effect on everyone who watched it.
