The LA Alumni Council is pleased to announce that Paula Roberts ’75 has been chosen to receive the 2011 Award.

Paula has a long history of service to LA. In high school, she played on the field hockey, basketball, gymnastics and softball teams. She graduated from Springfield College and came back to LA to teach and coach the LA field hockey team for 11 years, amassing a record of 106 wins, 45 losses, and 13 ties. In 1987, the team won the Maine Eastern Class B Regional Title and State Class B championship. They also won MVC League championships in 1985 and 1989.

As an alumna, Paula served on the Alumni Council for many of the past 20 years. She was instrumental in creating Homecoming Weekend, which the Alumni Council inaugurated in 1993. Since then, the event has grown and is one of the most popular events for students at LA.

Paula’s current service to LA, for which she was recognized this year, is her dedication to covering LA sports for the Lincoln County News. Her faithful and comprehensive coverage of all athletic contests and events keeps alumni, parents, and friends aware of the activities and accomplishments of the many students that participate in the athletic programs. Paula keeps individual and team records for all the sports. Sports are an important part of LA’s comprehensive curriculum and athletic events are an important link between the school, its alumni and the larger community. Paula helps this connection in many ways that would not happen without her dedication.
